Being only a short train ride from Sapporo, Otaru should definitely be on your itinerary if you find yourself in Hokkaido. The city is well-known for its trading past, glass production and is also the home of LeTAO. I've been wanting to visit since I planned my high school grad trip (which never happened) so I'm very happy that I got to visit it on my university grad trip.
