Railfanning The Wisconsin and Southern Railroad With "New" Ex-UP SD60Ms 6/30/2021 Part 1

Five years ago OTD, I got my first full day of chasing several of the ex-Union Pacific EMD SD60M locomotives that Watco had brought on to the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad's system over the preceding six weeks or so. First though, we see a remote control yard job with GP38-2 WAMX 3872 spotting a tank car of refrigerated argon for the transload in the old coach yard. Then, another yard crew runs light across Pearl St. with ex-Milwaukee Road SD40-2 WAMX 4178. A hostler crew brings out SD60M WAMX 6025, starting to assemble the consist for that evenings' T003 train (Janesville-Horicon). However, first, the counterpart T004 is coming through, making a direct run out toward Chicago with 6029 and 6028 and 104 cars. Back at the yard, the T003's power consist is assembled, and they grab their train and depart. The SD60Ms were new and interesting for the moment, but I quickly became frustrated at how abruptly they had disrupted the solid consists of red and gray SD40-2s/sometimes GP38-2s I had known on these trains for many years. It took nearly two years for them to get the first couple painted, in a rather different interpretation of the red and gray scheme.
