Day of Insects 2026 Keynote by Prof. Dr. Dave Goulson: Insect declines and their solutions

Prof. Dr. Dave Goulson delivers his keynote at the Day of Insects 2026 in Leuven, Belgium - the first international edition of the annual conference founded by Dr. Hans-Dietrich Reckhaus and INSECT-RESPECT. In this talk, Goulson explores the dramatic decline of insect populations worldwide, from the Krefeld Study to the disappearance of the windshield phenomenon, and makes the case for why insects deserve to exist on their own terms, not just because they pollinate our crops. The Day of Insects brings together scientists, businesses, policymakers, artists and citizens from across Europe and beyond to take a stand for insects and biodiversity.
