Subsequently, as new dances were created, the troupe quickly adopted them, and nowadays, it focuses its offerings on these dances. 　In the 1980s, as the younger members grew, the troupe was increasingly invited to participate in competitions and contests around the country, and it has become widely known. 　We will continue to work hard to train successors, and we will continue to devote ourselves to passing on traditional performing arts, with a focus on "true kagura." ■Synopsis of the Original Kagura Performance "Azumayama" Ordered by Minamoto no Yorimitsu to explore Mutsu, Urabe Suetake fulfills his orders and heads to Oshu with his wife, Satsukihime, and Nasu Hachirō Munechika to sightsee Rikuzen and Matsushima. Meanwhile, the demon, chased from Kurozuka in Adachihara by Ajari Yukiyoshi, has taken up residence on Mount Shinobu, where he has transformed into a female hostess and, accompanied by his minions Kurogumo-doji and Akagumo-doji, makes a living by capturing and consuming anyone who enters the mountain. As Suetake and his party approach Mount Shinobu and spot the lights of a mountain lodge, they leave their travel-weary wife in the care of the female hostess and head for Echigo. However, a shooting star before sunset gives him an ominous premonition, and he hurries back to his wife. "You left without even having time to rest," Suetake becomes suspicious of the female hostess, who says this, and when he questions her, the demon finally reveals its true form. After the battle, Suetake rescues Satsukihime. Regretting having put his wife in danger, he names the mountain "Mount Azuma" and uses it as a lifelong lesson. This is the story. ■Kagura in Hiroshima Prefecture Kagura is performed in many different ways in various parts of Japan. It is believed that the kagura in Hiroshima developed in the Edo period from Iwami Kagura, which had evolved from Izumo kagura. Izumo kagura is composed of ritual dances, which show the procedures to invite the advent of gods, and Noh dances, which dramatize the admiration of the virtues of gods in order to thank them for having descended from heaven. In the process of evolution, the kagura in this area was also strongly influenced by Yahata kagura and Takachiho kagura in Kyushu and Bitchu kagura in Okayama as well as the old local beliefs of the farmers in the mountainous areas of the Chugoku region. The kagura in Hiroshima is characterized by its dramatization. It has developed into a free and relaxed traditional performing art extremely popular among ordinary people. There are 300 kagura groups in Hiroshima Prefecture. The dancers, who are all amateurs, practice They work hard to improve their skills. They work or go to school during the day, but they also play important roles, as volunteers, in preserving kagura.
