The scene in the courtyard of Pematangsiantar Police Headquarters that morning, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, was no ordinary spectacle. Dozens of people clad in orange prison uniforms, handcuffed, were led by officers to the center of attention. Before them lay abundant evidence of crimes: piles of various types of narcotics, dozens of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, cell phones, electronic scales, and millions of rupiah in cash. This was a moment of reckoning for the 153 perpetrators who had been troubling the city, the result of a months-long undercover operation. In front of the media, Pematangsiantar Police Chief, AKBP Sah Udur Sitinjak, accompanied by Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, AKP Irwanta Sembiring, and Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Sandi, outlined the results of his staff's hard work. The primary focus of this operation was the eradication of narcotics. From April to October 2025, the Narcotics Investigation Unit successfully solved 103 cases with a total of 140 suspects. The most alarming fact is the profile of the suspects: 137 of them were dealers, while only 3 were users. This indicates that the Pematangsiantar Police were not only targeting downstream users but also successfully disrupting the distribution chain. This network involved 130 men, 9 women, and, sadly, one teenage girl. The scale of the operation is reflected in the seized evidence, which included 567.22 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 50 grams of marijuana, 253 ecstasy pills, 127 mobile phones, and 42.4 million rupiah in cash.
