Don’t Forget God When Life Gets Good

Today’s devotion from Deuteronomy 8:1–20 reminds us of a powerful warning: do not forget the Lord when life becomes good. Israel was about to enter a land of abundance after forty years in the wilderness. Before they experienced comfort, success, provision, and blessing, Moses reminded them that every good thing comes from God. The wilderness had humbled them, tested them, and taught them that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. This message speaks deeply to believers today. Hard seasons often drive us to prayer, but seasons of success can quietly lead to pride and self-sufficiency. When homes are built, careers grow, finances increase, and life feels secure, we must remember the God who gave us the strength, wisdom, opportunity, and ability to receive every blessing. Deuteronomy 8 teaches us to stay humble, remain thankful, trust God’s Word, and never become so busy enjoying the blessings that we forget the Blesser.
