God Blessed Them, But Not for the Reason You Think 🤔

Today’s devotion from Deuteronomy 9:1–29 reminds us that every victory, blessing, open door, and answered prayer comes from God’s grace—not our own goodness. As Israel prepared to cross the Jordan and face nations greater and stronger than themselves, Moses warned them not to become proud after victory. God was not giving them the land because of their righteousness, but because of His faithfulness, covenant promise, and mercy. This message is a powerful reminder for believers today. Success can tempt us to take credit for what God has done. Blessings can make us forget how much we depend on His grace. But Deuteronomy 9 calls us to humility, gratitude, obedience, and prayer. Moses also shows us the power of intercession. He stood in the gap for Israel, prayed for mercy, and pointed us forward to Jesus Christ, our perfect Mediator and High Priest, who continually intercedes for us.
