🪷 भँवरा कहीं उड़ जावे | Bandish in Raag Bhairavi | Madhyalaya Teentaal भँवरा कहीं उड़ जावे is an original devotional composition exploring the journey of the jeevatma (individual soul) toward union with the paramatma (the Supreme) — using the timeless metaphor of the bhanwra (black bee) wandering in search of the sacred lotus (kamal). As the bee's hum awakens the thousand-petaled lotus (sahasrara) and the boundaries between seeker and sought dissolve, the song moves from longing to luminous union. The lyrics were written by Ajay Sardesai (Megh), first published on the Spirituality and Us blog in January 2024, and have here been set as a bandish in Raag Bhairavi, performed in Madhyalaya Teentaal. 🎼 About Raag Bhairavi Raag Bhairavi is one of Hindustani classical music's most revered ragas — traditionally performed at the close of a concert, it carries a sense of deep devotion, surrender, and quiet transcendence. Built on all komal (flat) swaras, its tonal palette lends itself naturally to spiritual and bhakti themes, making it a fitting vehicle for this song's journey from the bound bee in the lotus to liberation in boundless sky.
