A memorial ceremony was held today at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage for Göktay. His family, relatives, artist friends, many names from the world of culture and art, and his admirers attended the ceremony. Emotional moments were experienced in the hall as a vigil was held at the head of Göktay's coffin, which was draped in the Turkish flag. Speaking at the ceremony, Zihni Göktay's daughter, Zeynep Göktay, read the letter her father wrote to her, saying, "Since I cannot speak as beautifully as my father, I will read the letter he wrote to me when I took my first steps in this profession. In this letter, you will already see his philosophy of life, his love for his art, and his devotion to his family. And you will hear it from his own mouth. 'Forty years ago, my father supported me in taking my first step in this beautiful art, which I have never regretted choosing despite its countless difficulties. If this is a relay race, I say to you, 'May your path be clear,' my beautiful daughter. But compete for the top. Always aim for the summit. Strive to be the best. Talent alone is not enough. You need honest morals, a sense of responsibility, and tireless, unwavering determination. Being a woman in Türkiye is very difficult. Being a working woman is even more difficult.
