Avenches Switzerland 4K Wonderful Historical Town

The small, historic old town of Avenches lies near the border with the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The town, with its arcades and numerous beautiful Gothic and Renaissance facades, is well worth a visit. Avenches was the capital of Roman Helvetia 2,000 years ago. Every summer, the amphitheater in Avenches hosts the Rock Oz'Arènes festival and the Avenches Tattoo, the only military tattoo in western Switzerland. The walking tour leads from the amphitheater, past the Roman Museum and Avenches Castle, to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the surrounding area, and back to the town.
