Morat Historic Ramparts Wall Walk Switzerland 4K

The historic city wall of the medieval Swiss town of Murten is almost completely preserved and accessible to the public. It is one of the best-preserved city walls in Switzerland and offers stunning views over Murten's charming rooftops and Lake Murten. According to documents in the town archives, King Conrad IV demanded that the citizens build a 12-foot-high wall around the town. The middle section was constructed approximately 100 years later using various types of rubble, and the uppermost section, made of sandstone, was added shortly before the Burgundian siege of 1476. Eight different plaques on the wall commemorate the Battle of Murten in 1476.
