Martial Arts Yoga Set
www.TraditionalMartialArtsAcademy.com This yoga set was developed by head instructor Sabumnim James Espy for the students here at Traditional Martial Arts Academy of Austin, Texas. Frustrated by his own injuries, he designed the sequence to prepare students' bodies for the rigors of martial arts training. It lengthens and strengthens the whole body, with particular emphasis on the back and hips. Over the past few years, he has seen students' bodies become healthier and stronger, and has received a lot of feedback on how it not only helps with preparation for training, but it has made a difference in recovery from injuries—even long-term, chronic injuries! In this video, TMAA instructor Katie Villarreal, demonstrates the basic set and explains the fundamental positions and transitions. Katie, in addition to teaching at Traditional Martial Arts Academy, has her own personal training practice.
