Que es el Manejo de los Controladores Biologicos en la Caña de Azucar- TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel
Twitter @juangangel In the pursuit of profitable and ecosystem-friendly production, one of Colombia's largest sugar mills has developed biological control for years as a tool to control pests that reduce crop productivity. This time, we'll learn what this type of control consists of. They are turf-like plants with stems up to 5-6 m × 2-5 cm, with numerous vegetatively elongated internodes; sweet, juicy, and hard, naked below. Sheaths are glabrous or hairy; ligules are 2-4 mm; blades are 1-2 m × 2-6 cm, glabrous, or the midrib is hairy. Panicle is 25-50 cm; peduncle is glabrous or densely puberulent; axis is glabrous or hairy; rachis internodes are 5 mm, glabrous. Spikelets are 3-4 mm, acute, with trichomes up to 7 mm; Lower glume glabrous; lower lemma ciliate on the upper half; upper lemma and awn generally absent; anthers 3, 1.5–2 mm. Various microorganisms associated with its roots and some that grow within the plant's tissues (endophytes), such as in the stem and leaves, can fix atmospheric nitrogen, allowing its cultivation in many areas without nitrogen fertilizers.
