The two students advocating for safe bicycle use were from Tenno Minami Junior High School in Katagami City. On the morning of the 11th, the two students, dressed in police uniforms as "DJ police officers," greeted their classmates, most of whom commute by bicycle. They then distributed leaflets on traffic rules and called for precautions to take when using bicycles. This initiative was planned for the first time by the Gojome Police Station to deepen junior high school students' understanding of the bicycle traffic violation notification system, also known as the "blue ticket" system, which will begin in April 2026, and to promote traffic safety. Those under 16, including junior high school students, are not subject to the blue ticket system and will not be fined. However, if a violation is found, they will receive a warning and guidance from a police officer. Takuma Itagaki, 3rd year student at Tenno Minami Junior High School: "I made the appeal with the hope that everyone would be careful about traffic safety and come to school in good spirits." Yuri Endo, 3rd year student at Tenno Minami Junior High School: "I thought it was important to encourage my friends to wear helmets, so I'm glad I was able to do that." The Gojome Police Station plans to continue promoting traffic safety through these efforts.
