Once you understand that, you can draw them for almost any molecule. In this video (Part 1) I explain Lewis structures for US Honors Chemistry, building them from the idea up. We cover what a Lewis structure shows, valence electrons and where they come from, the octet rule (and the duet for hydrogen), the difference between bonding pairs (shared, shown as lines) and lone pairs (shown as dots), and a step-by-step method to draw simple molecules so every atom ends up with a full shell. Part 2 will take on double bonds, more complex molecules, and formal charge.
