ASIAir vs StellaVita - My review after testing both
I spent several nights testing both the ZWO ASIAIR and the ToupTek StellaVita to see how they compare in real-world astrophotography use. In this video, I share my honest thoughts on their performance, reliability, and features after running them side by side under the stars. The StellaVita can control a wide range of astrophotography gear — not just ToupTek devices — and I found it offers deeper mount integration, with access to features like changing slew speed and guide rate. However, it still has a few missing tools, such as no live stacking and no camera rotator support (yet). It also relies on a Wi-Fi dongle for Station Mode, with the built-in Wi-Fi range limited to around 2 meters. On the plus side, it includes removable storage and supports a broad set of mounts, even adding dedicated drivers for UMI systems. In terms of reliability, the ASIAIR is the more mature and stable product. While not perfect, it’s less prone to random disconnects or crashes. My StellaVita did stop mid-session once after hours of imaging — a reminder that it’s still evolving. That said, I was impressed by how much ToupTek has improved the platform in a short time. Watching older reviews, like Cuiv’s video from six months ago, really highlights just how far StellaVita has come.
