"i'll just buy one," i stupidly thought. you think i'd be smarter in my old age. maybe i am but just less honest to myself lmao in reality i knew that i was going to end up with the whole set of manga soon. but i tried to tell myself that wasn't the case. days later i would send an apology message to rj saying i've been fully consumed by the manga and i've read ahead. he was very nice about it. i fell deeper in the nana hole. perhaps i'm still in it. this channel really started out as a love letter to life's compelling forces. ai yazawa's nana taught me again how compelling the manga medium can be after a lot of disappointment. i felt again how art can make you hurt and make you feel human as i sobbed uncontrollably on my couch after finishing the last volume of nana some people say that nana is unfinished but i feel like nana is unfinished in the same way life is unfinished. we're writing it as we go along and i can wholly imagine the lives that these characters are living without additional pages of the manga because it feels as if their emotions, the distillation of who they are, will stay with me. read nana. it will make you feel.
