Best Bait For Lingcod?! (Using Live Bait For Big Lings)- Santa Cruz Rental Boats

Come with me and the homies on the last Santa Cruz rental boat of the year!! ( December 19, 2025) We got out there right away and wasted no time dropping sabikis down with frozen squid for live sand dabs!! After we got a good amount, we located ourselves over the rocks with the ​⁠ ‪@Garmin‬ boating app and started dropping them down on a trap rig!! Right away, we started catching lingcod left and right on live sand dabs, we even used a bunch of diffrent baits like squid, herring/anchovy, live jack smelt, and even a half chewed up octopus!! The best bait of the day definitely had to bed the live sand dabs, every drop they would either get smacked, taken whole, or absolutely shredded by the crazy sharp lingcod teeth!! Definitely recommend you guys trying it out for yourself the next offshore rockfish/lingcod season, always remember to pay attention to depths and regulations!! Jordan absolutely killed it catching the most keepers of the day and Dakota smacked a nice lingcod on a 4oz ‪@HookupBaits‬ !! I definitely don’t recommend gaffing fish if you are already over the limit. We didn’t have a net on board and luckily the last lingcod of the day was gaffed in the cheek and didn’t cause any major damage. Still totally not cool and I apologize, won’t happen again. I also apologize for any bad words or dirty jokes, I try to stay kid friendly but it can be hard when emotions are all over the place when fishing and im not the boss of others!!
