In this episode of Asana Lab, I’ll be dissecting two of the most common backbends in Vinyasa Yoga: cobra pose (known as Bhujangasana in Sanskrit) and upward facing dog (known as Urdhva Mukha Svanasana in Sanskrit). I’ll also be discussing the importance and peculiarity of the Hyoid bone and how it affects our backbends. You’ll also find out what squeezing grapes has to do with improving your glute engagement, leading to greater freedom of movement in spinal extension (i.e. backbends) – it’s not to be missed!
