초등 때 책은 많이 읽었는데, 고등학생이 되어 가장 후회한 한 가지
📚 "I should have read them and organized them better back then..." This is a remark my eldest child, now a high school student, made while looking back on their elementary school days. They read a tremendous number of books during their elementary school years. However, looking back now, they expressed regret, saying it would have been better if they had spent a little more time connecting what they read and making it their own. Hearing that, I decided to prepare in a slightly different way than I did with my second child. In this video, I introduce the Korean history and humanities books we are reading together while preparing for the Korean History Proficiency Test, as well as books that would have been helpful to read during their elementary school years. I wanted to share the thought that while it is important for a child to read a lot of books, it would also be beneficial to create experiences where they remember even just one book for a long time and connect it to their own thoughts. After finishing the video, a thought suddenly occurred to me. What I regretted most while raising my eldest was not the "quantity of reading," but the "habit of organizing." Next time, I will share a separate video introducing a book organization method that you can practice with your child without any pressure. 📖 Books mentioned in the video ✔ Choi Jae-cheon’s Great Animal Adventure — A faction series that teaches ecology and science through interesting stories ✔ The Usefulness of History for Children — An introduction to Korean history that fosters the power of questioning and thinking ✔ The Usefulness of History: Life Edition — A humanities and liberal arts series that teaches life values and choices through historical figures ✔ Letters on Korean History — An introductory history series that naturally helps you learn the major flow and context of Korean history ✔ Teacher Yong’s Bustling Korean History — A bestseller series that makes Korean history approachable through easy and fun explanations Let’s share stories about what I learned firsthand with my children: that encountering history through rote memorization makes it easier to drift away, whereas encountering it through stories and figures first ensures it stays with you for a long time. 📌 Information regarding experiential learning (Monarte) is also shared via the link below. https://cafe.naver.com/mijamo/141224 📍Group Purchase Schedule: July 7 (Tue) ~ July 13 (Mon) 📍Group Purchase Contents: The Usefulness of History for Children 1-3 (3 volumes total + Master Book) The Usefulness of History for Children: Life Edition 1-5 (5 volumes total + Master Book) Choi Jae-cheon's Great Animal Adventures 1-9 📍Group Purchase Link (Set): https://item.gmarket.co.kr/Item?goods... 📍Group Purchase Link (Single Volume): : https://item.gmarket.co.kr/Item?goods...
