Uncovering a Forgotten River Sump (Kayaking the Saugeen)
I took my kayak down the Saugeen River near Durham and ended up finding way more than I expected. From running rapids and swimming along the banks, to spotting wildlife and exploring hidden features along the river, this trip had a bit of everything. Along the way, I pass under an old railway bridge from the 1800s, check out some cool plants, and meet up with a friend before heading deeper downriver. Things get really interesting when I come across a powerful blowhole feeding into the river — deep enough to completely swallow my paddle. Further down, I find drainage caves along the bank and even explore one that drops into a sump (definitely coming back with proper gear). I also spot crayfish, a turtle, a heron, and what looks like a muskrat swimming nearby. This river is full of hidden surprises. If you enjoy exploring, kayaking, caves, and wild Ontario nature — this one’s for you. 👍 Like & Subscribe for more exploring videos 💬 Drop a comment if you want me to go back and fully explore that cave #Kayaking #SaugeenRiver #Caving #Exploring #OntarioOutdoors #Adventure
