I'm building a multi-functional technical column! Welcome to the first chapter of a major workshop renovation project! In this video, I'm building a technical column concealed between two beams to centralize all the workshop's networks: electricity, lighting, computer network, compressed air, equipment power, ceiling outlets, and much more. The goal is to make the workshop cleaner, more functional, more adaptable, and more pleasant to use. 🎥 This video is produced in partnership with Reolink, who are helping me secure my workshop. I'll also show you an indoor and an outdoor PoE camera integrated into my network. ⚡ The technical heart of the workshop This column brings together all the essential networks in one space, while remaining easily accessible for future upgrades. I'm integrating: multiple electrical outlet circuits; lighting circuits; junction boxes; compressed air lines; The cameras' Ethernet cables; a powerline adapter; a Wi-Fi repeater; power supplies for sensitive equipment. The result: a much cleaner, more logical, and scalable installation. 🔒 A more secure installation The power outlets for the network, Wi-Fi, and cameras are now concealed within the technical column, preventing them from being easily disconnected. 🪵 A scalable design The column is enclosed with 5mm plywood sliding panels, providing a discreet look while ensuring quick access to all components for future modifications. 🔌 10 outlets directly in the ceiling I've integrated 10 electrical outlets distributed across the entire width of the workshop, allowing machines to be powered from the ceiling and eliminating most of the extension cords on the floor. 💡 New Lighting I'm also installing several recessed LED spotlights to achieve more even, brighter lighting, better suited to woodworking and DIY projects. 📹 Reolink Cameras I'd also like to introduce the two cameras that now monitor my workshop: ✅ Indoor camera. ✅ Reolink Duo 3V PoE outdoor camera.
