VAL CANALE | la via PIÙ VELOCE per salire al Rifugio PAPA sul PASUBIO

Challenging winter hike in the 𝗩𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗘, one of the most demanding itineraries in the 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗜𝗢, undertaken in difficult conditions, technical terrain, and an isolated alpine environment. Departure from 𝗣𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗴𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗲, climbing along trail 𝗖𝗔𝗜 300, which ascends the steep 𝗩𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲: a gully known for its steep slopes, significant snow accumulations, and frequent natural avalanches during unstable periods. Val Canale is considered one of the most challenging winter stretches of Pasubio: exposure, ice, and uneven terrain require experience, sure-footedness, and appropriate equipment. On the way there, I chose the direct ascent via the 𝗩𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲, while on the way back I opted for the equally delicate 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝗘𝗿𝗼𝗶, a military route of the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮, exposed and treacherous in the presence of snow and ice. The climb leads to the historic 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗱’𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘁, an important wartime relic nestled in the 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶, before the scenic return.
