Tenzin Choegyal & Philip Glass – "Snowy Mountains – GangRi" Film by Tenzin Tsewang From the forthcoming album Be the Sky Legendary composer Philip Glass and Tibetan-Australian artist Tenzin Choegyal present “Snowy Mountains – GangRi” (གངས་རི་རྭ་བས།) — the first single from their upcoming collaborative album Be the Sky. This original composition blends contemporary classical minimalism with Tibetan spiritual poetry, offering a powerful meditation on devotion, resilience, and inner strength. Sung by Tenzin Choegyal along with over 100 Tibetan refugee children from the Tibetan Children’s Village — the school and orphanage in Dharamshala where Tenzin was raised — the piece sets to music a revered Tibetan verse dedicated to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama: In the land encircled by snowy mountains, Is the source of all happiness and benefit, All-compassionate Tenzin Gyatso, Ocean of Wisdom, May you stand firm until samsara ends. གངས་རི་རྭ་བས་བསྐོར་བའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་སུ། ། ཕན་དང་བདེ་བ་མ་ལུས་འབྱུང་བའི་གནས། ། སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས་དབང་བསྟན་འཛིན་རྒྱ་མཚོ་ཡི། ། ཞབས་པད་བསྐལ་བརྒྱའི་བར་དུ་བརྟན་གྱུར་ཅིག ། Featuring Alex Ring Gray on piano and the Grammy-winning Scorchio Quartet, the track builds a richly layered, emotionally resonant soundscape — a fusion of Glass’s unmistakable musical language with Tenzin’s evocative vocal style. “This song is our humble offering in honour of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday,” says Tenzin Choegyal.
