This is Manimani Kwangmani~^^ This time, I visited "Eomji's Pojangmacha Main Branch," a cockle specialty restaurant located in Ponam-dong, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do. This restaurant is said to be the first in Korea to develop seasoned cockle salad, making it incredibly famous not only in Gangneung but nationwide. Business is so booming that the first and second branches are located right next to the main branch. I've heard it's a must-visit place for dine-in or takeout when you visit Gangneung. There's something about this restaurant that I found incredibly inspiring. The owner and his wife both joined the Honor Society Club, which you can join by donating 100 million won to the Community Chest of Korea's Fruit of Love. Even more surprising is that they're the first couple from Gangwon Province to join. This restaurant uses 100% domestic cockles, harvested from Yeojaman Bay, Suncheon Bay, and Deukryang Bay near Beolgyo. While enjoying the cockle salad bibimbap, meat sashimi, cockle salad, cockle pancake, and squid sundae, I savored a variety of textures: springy, chewy, salty, savory, and crunchy. I was completely absorbed in the cockle. The side dishes were also exquisite, making it feel like a home-cooked meal. I couldn't believe how much joy I could feel. I couldn't help but feel so happy.
