Negishi Heights: A Last Look
A drive through a virtual ghost town — now-closed Negishi Heights Navy Family Housing Area in Yokohama, Japan. Negishi closed effective Jan. 1, 2015. It was established in 1947 by the U.S. Army and turned over to the U.S. Navy in 1951, making it the Navy's oldest overseas dependent housing areas. It occupies 106 acres with 387 housing units. The Navy and Government of Japan are negotiating the eventual return of Negishi Heights to its original land owners.
