This area facing the bay was close to the port and a busy area, ideally suited to the entertainment and entertainment needs of a port town. However, today's nightlife district is concentrated in Mae-cho, north of the Akkeshi Ohashi Bridge. These buildings near the port served as a reminder of the concentration of people and entertainment during the heyday of the North Pacific fishing industry, but have since disappeared. Today, there are almost no clear nighttime dining districts in Hanasaki, and only faint traces of its former red-light district character remain in the streetscape. Nemuro City Nemuro was established during the Edo period as Nemuro Place and developed as a base directly under the shogunate. Since the Meiji period, it has been recognized as "Hokkaido's most important port in the east" and led eastern Hokkaido as a center of administration, commerce, military affairs, and fishing. With Hanasaki Port as its outer port and the North Pacific fishing industry at its peak, the city's structure was clearly formed. Given its character as an administrative city, Nemuro's red-light district was of a certain size and institutional structure, occupying a distinct position within the city.
