BioShock Infinite Remaster (2013) 100% Longplay 1999 Mode | RTX5090 | 4K Full Playthrough
BioShock Infinite is a fascinating case study in over ambition and series story line execution. On a base level, I don't care what anyone says, Infinite is an excellent game. It looks gorgeous, the voice acting is some of the best in gaming, and the game mechanics are endlessly fun. This game biggest crime is failing to stand on the broad shoulders of previous instalments in the series and telling a disjointed story. After being absent from the previous game, Ken Levine had big plans for this one, from the fully interactive world, to dynamic story and mechanics that still couldn't be pulled off today. This was all evident in the concept trailer released years before the game was ready. It gave a taste of what Irrational Games wanted, but in reality, due to corporate over sight and the technology not matching the ambition, the Infinite we got was a far cry from the vision that guided it. The biggest issue in this game is the storyline. BioShock 2 was the best example of how to follow up a memorable twisting story as seen in the original, keep it grounded and simply build an emotional narrative while showing the intriguing other side of Rapture, the socialist opposition to Andrew Ryan's Libertarian dream. Infinite, however, told BioShock to hold it's beer and tried to tell a far more outrageous and complicated story. In my opinion, what made the story of the original game so good was due to the grounded, gritty way it was told. The big twist was earnt by meticulous planning and heavy second hand and environmental story telling. Unfortunately, multiverses are a pet bug of mine, I believe they are the laziest form of story telling, where nothing matters, actions have no consequences, and death is never really permanent. Did I enjoy going back to Rapture, especially in the DLC "Burial at Sea"? Yes, the memberberries were strong with this one, but when all the flashy twists and intricate turns are built on the foundations of "nothing really matters", I'm just left irritated and annoyed. Infinite is a game I would love to explore on the main channel, not a game by game retrospective, but more of a deep examination of this game in particular, it's themes, and how the series as a whole tells different stories through political ideology, social constructs and religious beliefs. I will tentatively do some ground work, so no promises, but if that is your thing, check out the main channel @TheCriticalWranker This game was played in 1999 mode, the hardest mode in the game which needs to be unlocked. I played this through twice, on both hard and 1999 mode, and I thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed it both playthroughs. Unfortunately, this has been claimed by four sources for the early 1900's music played in-game over radios and Gramophones. I did consider removing the audio, but this channel is about historic record, and I have no interest in ever monetising, so I left it in. They are currently just copyright claims so I have no control over ads put in the video, this also makes the video unavailable in Russia. If any of them turn into a copyright strike, I will have to cut these sections out or remove the video altogether. #5090 #gameplay #letsplay #thecriticalwranker #criticalwranker #longplay Enquiries: [email protected] More Info: https://criticalwranker.com *******Time Stamps******* 00:01:43 The Lighthouse 00:16:57 Town Center 00:59:56 Comstock Center Rooftops 01:49:43 Monument Island 02:30:53 Battleship Bay 03:09:43 Soldier's Field 03:59:53 Hall of Heroes 05:19:56 Finkton Docks 05:46:48 Finkton Proper 07:06:57 Shantytown 08:04:27 Factory 08:27:22 Emporia 09:14:08 Downtown Emporia 10:40:16 Comstock House 11:27:49 Hand of the Prophet 12:45:26 Sea of Doors/Ending *******Notes on this Video******* PC used: Ryzen 9 9950x3d Processor Asus ROG HERO X670e Extreme Motherboard Asus Astral Geforce RTX5090 32GB 128GB DDR5 RAM AverMedia Live Gamer ULTRA 2.1 Capture Card Minor editing done using Adobe Premiere I upload these playthroughs, mainly for real hardware footage preservation, which is why I use no watermarks nor overlays . Feel free to use it as you wish, all I ask, is you don't just reupload it in full. Credit to my main channel would be greatly appreciated, but not required. I had to seriously lower the bitrate in this video to get it under Youtube's 256gb limit. I usually render these videos at 90MBPS, however, the best I could do here was 40MBPS, so if you want the raw footage of this video, contact me.
