Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower successfully implemented the 2025 National Internship Program, which attracted approximately 100,000 participants. The program will continue in 2026 with a quota of 150,000 participants. Manpower Minister Yassierli stated that the National Internship Program is part of President Prabowo's economic stimulus package to stimulate the economy and prepare graduates of state universities to compete in the workforce. Through this hub internship program, the Ministry of Manpower sees this six-month internship as addressing challenges related to the productivity and competitiveness of the Indonesian workforce, with 60% of interns receiving job offers at their internship locations. Through this national internship program, the Ministry of Manpower supports educational institutions in promoting skills and certification for prospective workers, thereby addressing the challenge of mismatching skills with the needs of the workforce. On the other hand, the Ministry of Manpower continues to address challenges related to job market pressures due to global economic turmoil. Therefore, the Ministry continues to promote the competency of prospective workers to meet the needs of the business sector. The Ministry of Manpower is also collaborating with vocational schools to establish career centers to provide students with an overview of the world of work. Furthermore, the Ministry of Manpower highlighted the challenges faced by digital platform workers working in the informal sector regarding social security regulations. Therefore, the government is providing protection through participation of digital sector workers in work accident and death insurance programs, as well as encouraging skills development and the development of wage scale structures, housing and transportation services.
