Voices of the river - Part Nine, Geoff Moon

In the next two episodes of our series “Voices of the River”, we meet a 62-year-old man who carries a lifetime of memories from Wearside. His story tells us about working on tugboats during the busy time when shipbuilding was booming. These moments shaped not just his life, they embody the very spirit of Wearside itself. With warm memories he reflects on the work he did, the changes he saw and how it all sadly came to an end of the busy river as he knew it. Notice in the background our 14 foot model of the famous SD14 that had 126 built on the Wear. Video created on 2nd February 2026 with recording/editing by Keith Holman, second cameras Nick Simpson and interviewer Jim Sullivan. All volunteers with Sunderland Maritime Heritage.
