鼓童「からどんどろ」Kodo “Kara Don Doro” (Full Version / “Evermore” Programme Preview)

We filmed this full version of “Kara Don Doro” at Kodo Village to give you a sneak peek at our upcoming “Evermore” performances at Asakusa Public Hall this summer. Kodo’s Seita Saegusa composed this piece featuring taiko rhythm motifs from the Minato Area of Minamiizu in Shizuoka Prefecture. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear the title “Kara Don Doro” repeatedly in the first half: that’s how the rhythm sounds when you say it. The beat continues throughout the second half, joined by two distinct grooves that playfully come and go. This version starts with “Miya-agari,” a taiko piece played during festivals in Minato.
