Triumph Scrambler 1200 | Summer Test Ride review 2025 | Is it worth 'Adventure Bike' money?

This is my long-overdue Triumph Scrambler 1200 test ride and review, filmed during a summer ride around the Wirral in Merseyside, UK. I’ve always admired the Scrambler 1200 for its engine, sound, and timeless style, but this ride was about answering bigger questions: Could it be a viable alternative to a middleweight adventure bike? Does it really earn the premium price tag it commands? Is it really that much better than a Royal Enfield Bear 650? The ride takes in local Wirral roads and a mix of speeds and surfaces, with a stop at Leasowe Lighthouse, the UK’s oldest remaining brick-built lighthouse. This was a 2 hour test ride, all about learning how the Scrambler 1200 feels on everyday roads and longer, flowing rides. Along the way, I naturally compare the Scrambler 1200 to bikes like the Royal Enfield Bear 650 and the BMW R12 GS, especially when it comes to value, capability, and emotional appeal. It’s not the most focused touring bike or the most capable adventure bike — but could it still be a meaningful companion for longer journeys as an emotional, rather than sensible, motorcycle choice? This video is an honest, unfiltered test ride. I delayed editing in part because i was so dissapointed not to love one of my dream bikes - I wanted time to fully reflect before sharing something negative or unfair. What you’ll see here is a balanced look at a motorcycle that gets many things right, while raising important questions about price, purpose, and expectations.
