Fern Bank Wicket Dam, Sayler Park, Ohio

www.HistoryInYourOwnBackyard.com [email protected] 812-623-5727 In 1905 construction began on a wicket dam at present day "Sayler Park" The dam was completed in 1911. In 1929 President Herbert Hoover dedicated the completition of all 51 wicket dams along the Ohio River which brought the "pool stage" up to 9 feet. The dam built here in Sayler Park had a 600 foot by 100 foot lock chamber for the boats to navigate up and down the river.
