Schwerer Unfall am Köln Bonn Airport: Motorradfahrer nach Wheelie schwer verletzt 18.06.2026

A serious motorcycle accident occurred on a popular biker route near Cologne/Bonn Airport: A 26-year-old motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries on Alte Kölner Straße on Thursday evening (June 18, 2026). According to initial findings, the Cologne resident was riding his Yamaha R1 from Altenrath towards Cologne. At a well-known motorcycle meeting point, he reportedly performed a wheelie. After the front wheel touched down, the rider apparently accelerated too hard. In a long left-hand curve, the 26-year-old then lost control of his motorcycle. He left the road and crashed into a concrete barrier beside the road. The biker suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital with multiple traumatic injuries. His condition was described as life-threatening. At the time of the accident, the man was at the scene with acquaintances. They witnessed the serious crash and required assistance afterward. Alte Kölner Straße remained closed for the extensive accident investigation. A specialized traffic accident investigation team was called in to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the accident. This stretch of road has been considered an accident hotspot for years. Just last July, two motorcyclists were killed in a serious accident not far from the current crash site.
