ROAD TO RACA #20 – Mein erster richtiger Test fürs Race Across Austria | Overnight-Test - Teil 1

The first real test for the Race Across Austria. 400 kilometers, 7,000 to 8,000 meters of elevation gain in 30 hours, with a bit of sleep in between. It starts in Innsbruck. Up to Kühtai – 1,400 meters of elevation gain, with gradients of up to 20% on the Kreuzlehen climb. Descent into the Ötztal valley, 50 kilometers of flat terrain to Sölden, then up to the Timmelsjoch pass into Italy and down to St. Leonhard in the Passeier Valley. Just under 130 kilometers, 3,200 meters of elevation gain, 6.5 hours – and then a decision I'm not taking lightly. What exactly is an overnight stay? During the Race Across Austria, I can't ride the 1,000 kilometers straight; I absolutely have to sleep at some point. That's exactly what I'm testing. A long first day until dark, then finding a place to sleep – indoors or outdoors, I don't know yet.
