Last week I took a drive through the Lyttelton road Tunnel from Heathcote Valley to Lyttleton. The Road Tunnel was completed in 1964 at a cost of $4 million pound and finally established a road link between Christchurch and Lyttleton which did not necessitate a trip over the Port Hills.
