#Benengeli2026 en los 5 continentes: Christina Linares y Pilar Reyes | La biblioteca de las editoras
Thirteen Cervantes network centers across five continents are hosting in-person activities during Benengeli Week 2026. They are joined by four guest cities, also participating in this grand journey of Spanish-language literature around the world. These are days when Spanish words flood the planet, and when the public at Cervantes centers in Sydney, Manila, Brussels, Bordeaux, Madrid, Manchester, Paris, Oran, Dakar, Belo Horizonte, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles (as well as people from the guest cities of Caguas, Caracas, Quito, and Edinburgh) can reflect firsthand on the relationship between Spanish-language literature and the mythical space of libraries. From the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid, Christina Linares and Pilar Reyes, moderated by Fernando Iwasaki, discuss the words and images that Spanish literature is currently developing around the fascinating topic of libraries and what it means to create literature in the 21st century. Fernando Iwasaki (Lima, Peru, 1961) holds a doctorate in American History from the University of Seville. He is the director of the literary magazine "Renacimiento" and of the Cristina Heeren Foundation for Flamenco Art. He is a columnist for the Spanish newspaper "ABC." He is the author of several novels and essays, although his literary work has focused on short stories. His writings have been included in various anthologies in Spain and Latin America and have been translated into Russian, English, French, Italian, Romanian, and Korean. He is currently the curator of the Benengeli literary festival at the Cervantes Institute. Christina Linares (Villajoyosa, Alicante, 1989) is a philologist and translator. She is the commercial director and head of communications for the publishing house Renacimiento, a project founded by her father, the poet and editor Abelardo Linares. From him and her mother, the editor and translator Marie Christine del Castillo-Valero, Christina has inherited a passion for books, which she channels as the public face of a publishing house that stands out for its research and recovery of works of exile literature, with special attention to women's literature. Pilar Reyes (Bogotá, Colombia, 1972) studied Literature at the Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá. She has been an editor for the Santillana Group and editorial director of the imprints Aguilar, Punto de Lectura, Taurus, Alfaguara, Suma, and Alfaguara Infantil y Juvenil, developing a local catalog with a strong impact on Colombian cultural life. In May 2009, she joined the editorial management of the Alfaguara imprint in Spain. She is currently the Editorial Director of the Literary Division of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial. #Benengeli2026 https://cvc.cervantes.es/benengeli/26/ ▶ Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/InstitutoCerv...
