Bir Hakeim : Réel VS Fiction
On June 11, 1942, General Koenig's 1st Free French Brigade left Bir Hakeim after 15 days of resistance against the German-Italian forces led by General Rommel. The Battle of Bir Hakeim came to an end, and it constituted the first major military action of the Free French Forces. With the release of the film "The Battle of de Gaulle: The Iron Age," this feat of arms was brought to life for the first time on the big screen. We asked Vladimir Trouplin, director and curator of the Museum of the Order of the Liberation, whether it was fairly accurate or not!
