We're Building an Eco Home in Bulgaria

This week on our off-grid strawbale build in rural Bulgaria, we're fitting finishing the wall plate and begin strapping the strawbale walls for compression - a big step towards bringing our eco home to life. But as we make progress, we uncover something unexpected.. our land has been hit hard by Dutch elm disease. We’re not experts — we’re just doing the best we can with what we’ve got! After selling all our belongings and escaping the UK rental trap, we bought an abandoned vineyard with a house, and three barns in Bulgaria. Our progress might seem slow, but we moved here for a better quality of life. Completing the work ourselves and spending quality time with our children means we are living our dream each and every day.
