DESERT FRONT OHV OFF ROAD TRAIL - 3N24 | BALDY MESA

Desert Front OHV Road (3N24), also widely known as the Baldy Mesa trail, is a popular route in the San Bernardino National Forest that bridges the gap between the Cajon Pass and the High Desert. It's Approximately 10–12 miles and it takes about 2 to 3 hours for a steady pace, though it can take longer if you explore the various off-shoots. The trail primarily consists of hard-packed dirt, sand, and some rocky sections. It contours along the edge of the mesa, offering great vistas of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Cajon Pass. Generally rated Easy to Moderate (3/10). While much of it is a straightforward dirt road, it features several off-camber turns and deep ruts that can be tricky for lower-clearance vehicles. While 2WD can handle parts of it in dry conditions, 4WD and high clearance are strongly recommended—especially for the steep, rutted sections near the I-15 end.
