1100 Plazas - Oferta de Empleo 2026 Seguridad Social
The Official State Gazette has just published the 2026 Public Employment Offer, which includes 1,100 open positions for Social Security Administrative Officers, 88 of which are reserved for people with a certified disability of 33% or more. In addition, there are 340 internal promotion positions for civil servants seeking advancement within the service, bringing the total to 1,440 positions. Important: the Public Employment Offer is not the official announcement of the exam, nor does it set the exam date. It is the State confirming that these positions will be offered. The official announcement of the exam must be published this year, 2026. Given that the current announcement was published in December 2025 with the exam scheduled for June 2026, the exam for this new announcement will likely be held in 2027. After more than 30 years without publishing any calls for applications, we have now had four in a row. There are two specific reasons behind this: 60% of civil servants in the State Administration will retire in the next ten years and need replacements, and the government wants to eliminate mandatory appointments within the Social Security system, which requires thousands of additional civil servants. This call for applications will not be the last. The exam consists of a single exercise with two parts, both mandatory and eliminatory, totaling 120 minutes. The first part is a 70-question multiple-choice test with four options and penalties for incorrect answers. A minimum score of 25 out of 50 is required for the second part to be graded. The second part is a 15-question practical exercise, also multiple-choice with penalties, based exclusively on the specific subject matter and requiring the same minimum score of 25 out of 50. The final grade is the sum of both parts, and candidates must pass the cut-off score in both. The general subject matter is very common to other civil service exams, meaning that those preparing for civil service or administrative assistant positions will already have studied between 50% and 60% of the syllabus. The specific subject matter, with the General Social Security Law as its central focus, is what distinguishes this exam from others. There is also a job pool: those who achieve 60% in the first part but do not obtain a permanent position are placed on a list of candidates for temporary positions within the civil service. The three mistakes that keep most people from getting ahead are always the same. The first is underestimating the practical exam and leaving it until the last few weeks, when the cut-off scores require you to have really worked on it. The second is waiting until the official announcement is released to start preparing: by then, anyone who has started now will have already gone through the syllabus once or twice. The third is not showing up for the exam because you're not sufficiently prepared, when the possibility of saving a partial score and accumulating experience makes it always worth trying.
