Oasis - Live in Stockholm (26th June 2002)

Oasis Location: Stockholm, Sweden Venue: The Cirkus Date: 26th June 2002 Source: Audience Recording The last show before heading back to the U.K, Oasis play the Cirkusteatern (shorter name Cirkus) in Stockholm, a city they haven’t played since 1997. The Cirkus was of course, originally used as a circus venue in the 19th century the original building caught fire. The current venue kept the name but as tastes changed through the 20th century made itself more of a home for musicals and subsequently concerts. Noel and Liam especially at the end of the show, seems a bit pissed about the venue choice, as the sound apparently wasn’t up to scratch on stage. This doesn’t come through on the recording as the entire band sound fantastic, so perhaps this was more of a monitor issue (the recording is slightly incomplete, as it misses out Fuckin’ in the Bushes). Onto the performance, Liam’s voice is in good shape this gig however he’s beginning to enter a vocal style of shouting off the end of sentences, which would begin to rear it’s ugly head next month. The rest of the band are in fine form throughout the night, with Noel doing well on Force of Nature in particular (a song he had slightly struggled with recently). Unfortunately tragedy strikes the setlist. Gas Panic has it’s final performance in Oasis tonight. Though it’s highly suggested it was rehearsed for the Dig Out Your Soul Tour, this never came to be and as such wouldn’t be played until after Oasis split. Liam does struggle a little bit tonight on it, but not enough to take it out of the set completely. But, as we know Noel didn’t like the Giants album after it’s tour so I think this song just brought back bad memories. On the whole, a good performance, with one of the best renditions of Stop Crying Your Heart Out.
