Food safety for health and wealth
Kenya is intensifying efforts to combat aflatoxin contamination through the adoption of Aflasafe, a biological control technology developed by its top agricultural research body, Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO) and its partners. Aflasafe can reduce aflatoxin levels by up to 80–100 percent. During the 2nd KALRO Scientific and Innovation Expo June 15-19, 2026, stakeholders called for this technology to be included in the fertilizer subsidy programme, citing its potential to improve food safety, protect public health and safeguard farmers' livelihoods. #MESHA #aflatoxin #Aflasafe #foodsafety #foodsecurity #KALRO #agriculturalresearch #agricultureinnovation #climatesmartagriculture #SustainableAgriculture #AgriTech #publichealth #sciencecommunication #mobilejournalism #sciencejournalismafrica
