It is the games' use of the unique PSP and PS2 connectivity feature, preceded by their predecessors SOCOM 3 and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo. Note that these are not the only effects Crosstalk has on Combined Assault, as viewable cutscenes and more equipment to select from are also unlocked through this feature.
