RPSI 'WT' class 2-6-4 No. 4 on the 'Great Northern Getaway' - 9th August 2015
On Sunday the 9th of August 2015, the RPSI operated a steam trip from Dublin - Dundalk, Dundalk - Skerries, Skerries - Drogheda and back to Dublin. The trip was called ''The Great Northern Getaway''. But this wasn't just any ordinary steam trip, it was the first time in five years that RPSI's 'WT' class 2-6-4 locomotive No. 4 hauled a tour in the Republic or Ireland. It was also my first time getting proper shots of the engine. So to start the trip off we head up to Prospect Road the day before the tour where we see IE 071 class locomotive number 083 working the Inchicore - Connolly Craven Transfer. The next Morning we head to Howth Junction where we see No. 4 pelting through with the Connolly - Dundalk leg. After that it was full whack on the motorway up to Irishtown, Co. Meath where we see No. 4 passing with the first leg of the trip. Once through Irishtown we slowly get ahead of the tour and set up in Glebe, Co. Louth. Two Enterprise trains pass through before No. 4 passes. Once through Glebe we travel up the line to Dundalk Station where we see No. 4 running around her train. After that we set up at Dromin Junction where we see No. 4 passing with the Dundalk - Skerries leg. After that it was straight to Laytown Viaduct where we see No. 4 passing. Once past Laytown we head to Ardgillan where we see No. 4 passing with the Skerries - Drogheda leg. After a long break and something to eat we head to Gormanston, Co. Meath where we see No. 4 passing with the Drogheda - Connolly leg. Once through Gormanston we head straight to Fairview Dart Depot and see it passing. After that we head to Claude Road where we see IE 071 class locomotive number 083 passing with the Connolly to Inchicore Craven Transfer. Footage was taken on Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of August 2015. Please Comment, Like & Subscribe.
