🚛 Every truck driver, at some point in their life, has cursed the guy in the office—the one who distributes the loads and plans the routes. Here in Switzerland, he's called a disponent; in Brazil, a dispatcher. I used to curse him too. But this week the tables turned: I was the one sitting in his chair. I left the wheel of Shrekão and ended up in a room with three screens and two phones, dispatching 10 trucks and more than 200 tons of iron a day to three branches. That's what it's like to be a Brazilian truck driver here: one day you're at the tip of the spear, the next you're the one wielding the spear. 🇨🇭 📦 In this video, you'll follow the entire day: arriving at 6 am to turn off the alarm and open the office in Oberentfelden, the system that shows the location of each of the 10 trucks in real time, planning the route that will be driven the next day—and the phone, which is the real terror of the room. Mid-morning, the bomb explodes: the salesperson sold 30 pieces of material, the driver arrived to deliver, and the customer said they only bought three. The driver still had another load to pick up at another branch in the afternoon. Who has to resolve this, in minutes, without ruining anyone's day? The dispatcher.
