Strength Training For Skiers - Explained
As I said in the video, it’s important to emphasize that resistance training will not help everyone equally in cross-country skiing, and I would in no way oversell strength training. Generally, the weaker you are to begin with, the more you will gain from it. So if it is a limitation, it might be worth prioritizing. The carry-over also depends heavily on which aspects of skiing you want to excel at, meaning that it’s highly individual. For example, I would prioritize much more heavy strength training for a classic sprint than for a 10 km skate race. However, weight training is safe, so there is no reason to be afraid of it. I hope I was able to get the nuances across.
