On the morning of Thursday, November 2, 2023, a combined force of the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. engaged in their routine weekly cleanup of homeless encampments on Main Street, and the Venice Boardwalk. Safety measures were rigorously followed with workers donning white hazardous materials suits, in accordance with prevailing safety protocols. The vigilant presence of Los Angeles Police Officers was instrumental in ensuring the safety and compliance of everyone present, with a special focus on the homeless community. Their role extended beyond just overseeing cleanliness and hygiene standards, to ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, thereby ensuring a secure and compliant operation. These cleanup endeavors, such as the one carried out in Venice, signify a slice of the City of Los Angeles' broader agenda to mitigate homelessness.
