The Price for Success

Pastor Garmon continued his series on The Price for Success by teaching that success is not accidental—it requires a price. While people often celebrate the visible rewards of success, they rarely see the sacrifices, prayers, failures, and personal battles that made it possible. Drawing from the life of Joseph, Pastor Garmon emphasized that true success is not merely about obtaining positions, wealth, or recognition; it is about becoming the person God has called you to be. He reminded the congregation that prayer, faithfulness, failure, and sacrifice are all necessary components of success. Joseph's success came because "the Lord was with him," but Joseph also had to make difficult choices, remain faithful under pressure, and refuse compromise. Pastor Garmon focused on three things believers must let go of if they want to walk in God's definition of success: Things that prevent success – Sometimes it is not a "what" but a "who" that hinders us from obeying God and fulfilling our purpose. Things that pervert success – Success loses its value when it is obtained through compromise, dishonesty, or the sacrifice of character. Things that poison success – Unforgiveness, bitterness, trauma, and unresolved pain can rob us of the joy and peace that should accompany success. Using Joseph's story, Pastor Garmon showed how Joseph chose forgiveness over bitterness. Before Joseph could fully enjoy his position of authority, he had to release the poison of betrayal and hurt caused by his brothers. Joseph's son Manasseh represented God's ability to help him forget the pain, while Ephraim represented the fruitfulness that followed healing. The message concluded with a powerful reminder that love is the antidote to the poison of unforgiveness. True success is not just reaching the top—it's arriving there with peace, integrity, and a free heart.
