After spending a day on Santa Cruz Island, we're not sure why. Join us as we continue our California National Park road trip and visit Channel Islands National Park, stop #53 in our quest to experience all 63 U.S. National Parks. What started as a backup plan after missing out on sea kayak reservations turned into one of the most memorable days of our journey. Located just off the Southern California coast, Channel Islands National Park is made up of five islands known for their dramatic cliffs, rugged hiking trails, unique wildlife, and remote landscapes. We take the ferry from Ventura to Prisoners Harbor on Santa Cruz Island, hike through some of the park's most beautiful scenery, and encounter wildlife found nowhere else on Earth. The surprises didn't stop on the island. The boat ride delivered an unforgettable dolphin encounter that made an already incredible day even better.
